The Sheraton Steamboat’s Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club Achieves Environmental Sanctuary Status

Steamboat Springs, Colo. (December 2011) – The Sheraton Steamboat’s Rollingstone Ranch Golf Clubis pleased to announce that it has achieved designation as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary from Audubon International.

To reach environmental sanctuary status, each course must demonstrate that they are maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas, including Environmental Planning, Wildlife & Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management.

 “We are thrilled to have been recognized for our environmental stewardship,” said John Haller, Course Superintendent at Rollingstone Ranch. “We appreciate this gorgeous mountain setting and are dedicated to being respectful of the surrounding habitat in our daily operations.”

Named one of Colorado’s “Best Resort Courses” for 2011 by Colorado Avid Golfer, the championship Rollingstone Ranch was designed by Robert Trent Jones II. The 18-hole course – which underwent a $2.2 million renovation in 2008 - consists of bentgrass/poa annua greens and bluegrass/ryegrass fairways and roughs and sixty-six sand bunkers, plus dramatic tee shots, stunning Flat Top Mountain views and the delicious Fish Creek Grille.
